The Land Use Board helps guide the Borough’s responsible growth and development. It reviews land-use applications, supports long-term community planning, and ensures that proposed development is thought out and in accordance with the Borough Code and New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law.
The Land Use Board, among other duties, is responsible for:
- Preparing and updating the Borough’s Master Plan
- Reviewing applications for subdivisions, site plans, and conditional uses, as well as variance requests related to lot size, property dimensions, setbacks, and yard requirements
- Fulfilling duties usually assigned to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
- Reviewing ordinances of the Governing Body for conformity to the Master Plan
- Reviewing proposed development regulations and providing recommendations to the Governing Body
- Review plans or programs required by State or Federal law
The Land Use Board members, with the guidance of the appointed Borough professionals, work to balance the rights of property owners with the Borough’s Code, Master Plan, goals, and overall interests of the Borough.
